Soup: a sensitive medium
Liquid feed systems have many advantages: practicality, savings, performance… but
soup can potentially provide an ideal medium for undesirable micro-organism development,
which can have a harmful effect on breeding performance.

One gram of soup can contain between 10,000 and 10,000,000 micro-organisms: lactic
acid bacteria, yeasts, but also enteropathogens. The presence of water and cereal
substrate makes this an
ideal medium to support fermentation.
